Walk My World

So the fun continues. Part of my English 7701 class is to respond to a poem by Poet Laureate Robert Hass. This time I chose to work with his poem, The Seventh Night. Now, I've already done a haiku for another one of his poems, but I did one more. This one is a little different. This one I put to a stop motion movie that I did myself. I can not tell you how PROUD and EXCITED I am!!! I've been wanting to learn how to do one and (thanks to YouTube and a 10 year old kid with a British accent) I did it!! I'm jumping up and down on the inside. Beaming with joy on the outside.

I am definitely pushing myself with these videos and poems. Stepping out of my comfort zone. I'm using these things as learning tools and as frustrating as they can be, I'm happy with the end results.

In my English class, we talk about having students make movies or remixing literature using some type of technology. I wondered how I could ask my (future) students to do that if I couldn't do it myself. Boom! I did it and so can they and so can anyone.

Here's my stop motion haiku. Yes I know you can see my fingers a few times. It's my first one so be nice! Love any feedback. Hope you enjoy!

Happiness
My response to Robert Hass' poem Happiness.

My Poem
Because they each held my heart before I heard theirs give a beat,
I knew what love was.
Wet kisses, countless hugs, belly laughs,
tears, joy, toys, trucks, cars, trains, smart,
limitless, love. My hearts.
Life, with my sons, is where
happiness abounds.
